An ExxonMobil UK advertisement for LNG was recently banned in the UK because it claims that LNG is one of the world’s cleanest fuel. The UK’s media watchdog, the Advertising Standards Authority, received complaints that the ad was misleading because LNG is not one of the cleanest fuels because, “it was a major contributor to carbon emissions and was not therefore environmentally friendly.”
ASA upheld the complaints and stated “the ad must not be broadcast again” because,
“we concluded that the ad misleadingly implied that natural gas was one of the cleanest sources of energy and that liquefied natural gas was environmentally friendly”.
You know LNG isn’t clean.
