Saying it with passion.

Friday, November 20th, 2009

This morning we released an online action in which people could add their names to a list opposing NW Natural’s Palomar Pipeline. Highlighting the importance of  protecting our public lands and acknowledging that we are all affected landowners has inspired over 60 people to sign on in just a few hours.

Here are some of the comments folks have been making:

“The Palomar Pipeline will increase habitat fragmentation in Oregon, adding more roads to forested public land, increasing run-off and decreasing the quality of critical watersheds. I oppose this misuse of public lands for corporate profit.” – Amira Cherbini

“I am 21 years old, and will have to deal with the impact that projects like the Palomar Pipeline are going to have on our planet. By opening the Oregon market to another imported, carbon-intensive fossil fuel, the Palomar project threatens or climate and national security. The Palomar pipeline will also damage Oregon’s river and forest ecosystems, making it harder for already pressured wildlife populations to deal with adapt to climate change.” – Nick Engelfried

“This is some of the most beautiful land in our country. We must respect and preserve it.” – Joyce Foster

“No one has the right to destroy our public lands for their own profits. These belong to all of us and to future generations. Hands off!” – Carol Newman

“Condemning privately held properties and compromising public lands is not appropriate. Oregon needs to aggressively pursue new less-invasive energy sources and energy conservation.” – Teresa DeLorenzo

You are an affected landowner.

Friday, November 20th, 2009

NW Natural’s proposed Palomar Pipeline would impact thousands of private properties, and clearcut through 2 state forests and Mt. Hood National Forest. The pipeline would devastate both private farms and public lands – public lands owned by you.

Tell NW Natural you are an impacted landowner who opposes the Palomar Pipeline.

Oregonians who rely on the Mt. Hood watershed for drinking water and recreational users of our National and state forests are impacted by the Palomar pipeline. Worse yet, because LNG would increase Oregon’s greenhouse gas emissions, all of Oregon will be affected by the impacts of climate change.

Memaloose Lake

Against NW Natural’s wishes, and ordered by federal court, a list of over 1500 impacted landowners threatened by the development of this pipeline has now become public. The problem is that this list does not include our names, your name, or the names of everyone who enjoys the clean drinking water and clean air we rely on from Mt. Hood National Forest. Add your name to the list of impacted landowners.

Act now and tell NW Natural that you should be on the list! Tell NW Natural that you are an affected landowner, and that NW Natural should stop the Palomar pipeline.

Add your name to the list here

After you add your name to the list, meet Carolyn, Martin & Ursala, one family who is working to protect Mt. Hood.

Take action now!
